Rise STEM Academy Earns National Certification

Rise STEM Academy for Girls is celebrating its status as the first school in Kentucky to earn certification from the National Institute for STEM Education. As a part of this year-long process, seven Rise teachers earned their STEM certification as well. Congratulations to Mary Thom Adams, Sydney Arnold, Lilly Frazier, Heidi Jack, Namkyung Joh, Trista Keene, and Jamie Kubiak.

Principal Cynthia Bruno said the recognition is a reflection of the intentional work that her staff, students, and the community have invested in building a truly innovative learning environment for girls.

“This process challenged us to examine every aspect of our school — from instruction and project-based learning to student opportunities, community partnerships, and systems that prepare girls to lead in STEM fields,” Bruno said. “Receiving this national designation validates the work happening inside our classrooms every day and reinforces our commitment to revolutionizing the face of the STEM industry by empowering girls with the confidence, problem-solving skills, and real-world experiences they need to thrive.”
